Today, the 17th Karmapa published a new commemorative praise for the 2025 parinirvana of 1st Karmapa, Dusum Khyenpa. A short verse of four lines, nonetheless packed with spiritual ‘punch’ (excuse the pun!) and power. With metaphorical imagery of offering water and Vajrayana practice bringing all appearances into ‘one taste’. the 17th Karmapa praises the omniscient bliss-wisdom of the 1st Karmapa. “A commemorative offering for the arisal of the Sambhogakaya, glorious knower of the three times.
Water descending from the ocean of knowables of the three times,
Gathers into a single wisdom vessel,
Of the great sage who drinks up all appearance and existence in one gulp,
The glorious venerable Jetsun Lama, I remember you today.
Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje.”
དཔལ་ལྡན་དུས་གསུམ་མཁྱེན་པ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་སྐུར་བཞེངས་པའི་དུས་མཆོད།
དུས་གསུམ་ཤེས་བྱའི་རྒྱ་མཚོར་བབས་པའི་ཆབ། །
མཁྱེན་པའི་ཡོལ་གོར་གཅིག་ཏུ་འཁྱིལ་བ་ལས། །
སྣང་སྲིད་ཧུབ་ཏུ་འདྲེན་པའི་དྲང་སྲོང་ཆེ། །
དཔལ་ལྡན་རྗེ་བཙུན་བླ་མ་དེ་རིང་དྲན། །
