Now there are over 700 signatures on the 17th Karmapa Return to Sikkim petition, supporters (and followers of the 17th Karmapa) are being requested to send emails to all the key decision-makers with a link to the petition. Emails and names are provided below (and anyone else you would like to send it to).
It has been over twenty years since the 17th Karmapa took the major risk of leaving Tibet to live in India and other countries, and we cannot sit idle and allow this situation with 17th Karmapa not being allowed to visit Sikkim or Rumtek monastery any longer.

SUGGESTED DRAFT EMAIL (you may also write your own):
“Dear Honourable …[name of person]
I am forwarding you this recently launched petition for your kind attention, regarding the return of the head of the 900 year old Karma Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist lineage, HH 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje to Sikkim.
We would be grateful if you, and other key decision-makers, in the interests of the basic human right of religious freedom and expression, for global peace and well-being, and for the 17th Karmapa’s thousands of followers in India and globally, could help ensure his return to Sikkim (and Rumtek Monastery) as soon as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Your sincerely,

Also, in the USA it requires only 500 signatures for a case to be taken in the high court to get the government to take action in the public interest. This case is also a major ‘public interest’ one, and this may also be an option in India, more on that later.
