CHOKHOR DUCHEN BLESSINGS FROM THE LAND OF SNOWY PEAKS

On this sacred day of Chokhor Duchen (the day the Buddha first turned the wheel of Dharma), am delighted to send greetings and blessings from the land of snow mountains, Tibet! More to come on this continuing solo Buddhist pilgrimage and research trip of a lifetime! May the Buddha’s teachings and activities flourish far and wide. Like prayer flags blowing in the cool mountain breeze high above the land!

I penned this short spontaneous poem as an offering to the guru, yidam, dakinis and protectors out of inspiration from this place.

“Seeing your majestic mounds
Peaking above the moist clouds
Caused deep hidden memories of deja vu and
emotions wild and passionate to also peak,
Flowing and soaring
Like a white snowy crow.
Following the gaze and footsteps
Of the guru, the sacred land,
language, sounds, art and temples.
Guru Khyenno!
Guru Khyenno!
Guru Khyenno!

The heart rises and eyes gaze upwards,
There is nothing more to see,
Space gazing into space.

Burning sunset clouds spark
The fire of passion and desire,
deep in the secret place Dewachen.
Visions of Chakrasamavara
Swell up the vast memory gorge.
Yet coming and going,
The impermanence of all.

The guru holding the vajra stable
Blissfully becoming one
With the Guru Buddha essence,

Eternally and blissfully one.”

May the awakened one’s life and teachings also remain stable for eternity. Written by Adele Tomlin, 9th July 2024.
