Understanding Key Buddhist Terms I: New online course (April 2024)

Ever wanted to know what some of the most common and key Tibetan words found in Buddhist sadhanas, aspirations and philosophy texts are and why? Now is your chance!

Following on from the Reading the Heart Sutra and Learning to Read Tibetan class for Beginners I, I am delighted to offer a new course (for those who can read Tibetan script at a basic level), on reading and understanding key Buddhist terms in Tibetan.

Some of the most common and important Buddhist terms in Tibetan will be read and spelt out and discussed in terms of their literal and philosophical meaning. Occasionally referring to the Sanskrit root word, when and where necessary. Prior study of Buddhist philosophy is helpful, but not essential.

Dates: 7th April -5th May 2024 (to be confirmed with interested participants)

Day: Sundays (2.30pm GMT/7pm IST: to be discussed and confirmed)

Platform: Zoom

Fee: 20/25 USD (17/20 GBP) per hour per person

Class size: 5 minimum -20 people maximum

Personal teaching, feedback and help with reading will be given during the class, with class handouts and homework (not obligatory).  The class will not just be about reading and translating the terms into English but understanding their meaning in Tibetan and in Buddhist philosophy/practice.
