In these troubled times of Covid-19 virus and the restrictions accompanying it, many Buddhists are turning to the practice and recitation of Noble Tārā. The root mantra of Tārā is one of the most famous in the Buddhist canon.
In Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo’s Collected Works, there are several short praises to Tārā and here is one he composed, a short, verse supplication and praise explaining the meaning of the root mantra while also praising the qualities of Noble Tārā, called The Melodious Tune that Accomplishes All Aims. This is the first English translation of it (source text is the 24 volumes Gangtok edition), may it be of benefit!

འཕགས་མ་སྒྲོལ་མ་ལ་རྩ་སྔགས་དང་སྦྱར་བའི་སྒོ་ནས་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་པ་དོན་ཀུན་གྲུབ་པའི་དབྱངས་སྙན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་བཞུགས་སོ། །
ཨོཾ་ཏཱ་རེ་ཏུཏྟཱ་རེ་ཏུ་རེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།
ཨོཾ་གྱིས་ཐར་དང་འདོད་རྒུའི་ནོར་སྟེར ། །
དཔལ་དང་གཡང་སོགས་སྐལ་བ་བཟང་པོས། །
སྲིད་ཞིར་སྨན་མཛད་གསང་བ་གསུམ་བདག །
མཆོག་སྦྱིན་འཕགས་མ་ཡུམ་ལ་འདུད་དོ། །
OM, that bestows liberation, all desires and riches
The glorious, auspicious, fortunate one
Medicine-giver of samsara and nirvana, master of the three secrets
Perfect generosity, I bow down to the noble mother!
ཏཱ་རེ་ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་རིན་ཆེན་གྲུ་བོས། །
འཁོར་བ་ངན་སོང་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མཚོ་ལས། །
མཁའ་མཉམ་ཡིད་ཅན་རྟག་ཏུ་སྒྲོལ་བའི། །
རྗེ་བཙུན་སྒྲོལ་མ་ཡུམ་ལ་འདུད་དོ། །
TARE, the precious ship of bodhicitta
That liberates ‘beings with minds’, as vast as space,
From the ocean of samsaric suffering and lower realms
I bow down to the Noble liberator mother!
ཏུཏྟཱ་རེ་ཞེས་བྱིན་རླབས་བདུད་རྩིས། །
འཇིགས་བཅས་རྒུད་པའི་ཚ་གདུང་བསལ་ནས། །
ཕན་བདེའི་པདྨོ་རྒྱས་པར་མཛད་པའི། །
གདུང་བ་སྐྱོབ་མ་ཡུམ་ལ་འདུད་དོ། །
TUTTARE, the nectar of blessings
Clearing away torments, anguish and fears
Who expands the lotus of benefit and bliss
I bow down to the protectress from torments!
ཏུ་རེ་ཁྱོད་ཞབས་དྲན་པའི་མོད་ནས། །
གང་འདུལ་མཚན་དང་སྐུ་ཡི་བཀོད་པས། །
བདག་ལྟའི་ཕོངས་པ་ཀུན་ལས་སྲུང་བའི།
ཐུགས་རྗེ་མྱུར་མ་ཡུམ་ལ་འདུད་དོ། །
TURE, at the moment of remembering you, venerable one,
Taming beings with the display of form and name
Protecting all from the poverty of ‘seeing a self’
I bow down to the compassionate, swift mother!
སྭཱ་ཧཱ་ཕྲིན་ལས་རྫོགས་ལྡན་སྤྲིན་གྱིས། །
དགེ་ལེགས་ནོར་བུའི་གྲུ་ཆར་འབེབས་པས། །
ཁམས་གསུམ་འགྲོ་ཀུན་དབུགས་འབྱིན་སྩོལ་བའི། །
ཡིད་བཞིན་འཁོར་ལོ་ཡུམ་ལ་འདུད་དོ། །
SVAHA, clouds of perfect activity
Raining down jewels of virtuous excellence
That shower relief on all beings of the three realms
I bow down to the wish-fulfilling wheel mother!
མདོར་ན་སྲས་བཅས་རྒྱལ་བ་ཡོངས་ཀྱི། །
ཡེ་ཤེས་གཅིག་བསྡུས་འཕགས་མ་ཁྱོད་ལ། །
སྙིང་ནས་གུས་པས་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས་སོ། །
In brief, to you, Noble Goddess
Embodiment of the primordial wisdom
Of perfect victors and spiritual heirs
I supplicate you with devotion from the heart!
བྱང་ཆུབ་བར་དུ་རྗེས་སུ་ཟུངས་ཤིག །
དམ་ཆོས་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་འགལ་རྐྱེན་ཞི་ཞིང༌། །
ཚེ་བསོད་དཔལ་འབྱོར་རིག་དང་བརྩེ་བའི། །
མཐུན་རྐྱེན་མ་ལུས་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པས། །
དོན་གཉིས་འགྲུབ་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབས་ཤིག །
Until enlightenment, hold us close!
Pacify all adverse conditions to accomplishing sacred Dharma!
With life span, merit, splendour, knowledge, love and
abundant harmonious conditions,
Bless us to accomplish the two aims!
ཅེས་པའང་ལྷག་པའི་ལྷ་མོ་འདི་ཉིད་ལ་གཅིག་ཏུ་གུས་པ་འཇམ་དབྱངས་མཁྱེན་བརྩེའི་དབང་པོས་སྙིང་ནས་དད་པས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པ་དེ་དེ་བཞིན་དུ་འགྲུབ་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག། ༈
May this supplication to the supreme goddess, made by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, one-pointedly with heartfelt faith and devotion, be accomplished like that!”
