As a result of reading Niraj Kumar’s original and ground-breaking research on the location of Oddiyana and Guru Padmasambhava’s ‘birthplace’ as Lake Rawa Pening, in Java, Indonesia, I visited the lake and thought it would be beneficial to raise funds for a new statue project of Guru Padmasambhava, in collaboration with local Indonesian residents, to be installed at a location by the lakeside, so that Buddhist pilgrims who wish to visit, have a small shrine/statue they can make offerings too.
I am launching a fundraiser for this not only with some local Indonesian Buddhists I met there, but also externally for those who wish to participate and gain merit from this new Dharma initiative.

The statue does not need to be as big as the one at Lake Rewalsar (Tso Pema), which I have visited several times. However, a similar statue of smaller proportions, perhaps in a small shrine building/hut would be beneficial for the sacredness of the location, the local Buddhists, and the local tourist economy there.
