‘ཚེ་ནོར་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རླབས་ཕྲེང་འཕྲོ་བའི། །
May life, wealth and resources flow wave after wave!
བསོད་ནམས་ཆུ་བོ་དྲག་ཏུ་བབས་པའི་ངོགས། །
Merit descend like a slope’s rapid current!
དབང་ཐང་ འཛུམ་དྲུག་རྒྱས་པའི་དམར་ཡག་སྟག །
Power and dominion expand like the smile* of a ferocious tiger!
དེང་འདིར་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་གྲོགས་སུ་རྩེན་གྱུར་ཅིག ། །
Right here and now, may you become a frolicking playmate!
For the Tibetan New Year of the Water-Tiger, the Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje himself, wishes all natives and foreigners, relatives old and young, abundant auspiciousness!’
On 3rd March 2022, for the new Tibetan Water-Tiger year 2149, the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, published a Losar verse and new exquisite line painting of great skill and delicacy with the eyes in particular as fierce and intense, but also with a lovely humility there! As there was no English translation published with it, I translated it ‘very quickly’ like a rapid stream (in half an hour) into English. Apologies for any errors!

*The Tibetan here says ‘dzum drug, which literally means smiling six, as a guess and assuming this means the six front teeth of a tiger. If anyone knows different please let me know!
